All the way from Tema, Ghana, West Africa, Sarkodie's GH rap lord released his spectacular 6th studio album, titled "No Pressure" on 30 July 2021, as a big fan of Sarkodie, I was looking forward to listen to this project and I'm not a bit disappointed at all, it's really a dope body of work, production on point, the album features collaborations from Giggs, Vic Mensa, Cassper Nyovest, Kwesi Arthur, Moelogo, Wale, Medikal, Oxlade, Darko Vibes, Harmonize, Benerl and MOGmusic.
"No Pressure" is nothing like any album I've listened to lately, it's got like a different vibes entirely, a diffusion of hip hop, rnb, drill, afrobeats, rap, hiplife, highlife, afropop, trap, basically I feel this album encompassed a lot of genres into it, as you may know, Sarkodie raps fluently in English and Ghanaian dialect, his native language "Twi" which quite makes him a standout rapper, a rap genius!
Sarkodie is regarded as one of the major names not only in the Ghanaian music industry, when it comes to African music on any level, globally, locally, the "Adonai" rapper is a key player, his contributions to the Ghanaian music / African music industry have earned him numerous awards/recognition, which includes the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for "Artiste of the Decade" & BET's Best International Flow artist at the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards. He is also considered one of the main pioneers of the Azonto genre and one of the most celebrated African rappers of all time.
"Fireworks" featuring Moelogo & Wale is a standout track for me on this one; the hook, the flow, the beat, the lyrics all just gelled seamlessly, sounds very summerish and definitely a radio smash.
"Vibration" featuring Vic Mensah is a very innovative song, head nodding banger, good for the club, good for the radio, an all rounder cut, Mensah's flow on this joint is just massively awesome and thus complemented King Sark's verse, this is a track you can sell in Tema or Chicago, or perhaps Lagos.
"Round 2" featuring Giggs is crazy, just pure bars, lyrical contents, Sarkodie and Giggs went hard on this one, it's just magical the way both rappers were on the same mode on that track, reminds me of the gigantic track "Ghost Mode" from Olamide & Phyno, it's just enormous like Jay Z & Kanye West "Ni***s in Paris"
"Non Living Thing" featuring Oxlade is your usual Afrobeats cut, you can easily get hypnotized with this tune, the beats sounds like a remake of the monster hit single "Adonai", I adore Oxlade's voice on this track, and King Sark's verses make it all worth it, definitely a club banger.
This is one album you must listen to, a very global project!
