RUM & BOOGIE is the second studio album from Davido's DMW record label artist, Peruzzi.
The Nigerian singer and songwriter released Rum & Boogie on Friday 9 April, the album consists of 20 tracks, split into two parts, 1st 10 tracks made the "Rum" playlist while the succeeding 10 tracks made the "Boogie" playlist, quite creatively in nature though.
"Rum" playlist is somewhat laidback, low to mid tempo, loved up tracks, more of a love storytelling notion with sweet melodies and vibes and essentially create a pleasant album listening experience.
The "Majesty" crooner started the album with "Juba - Bow" to usher the listeners into the album listening experience, "Juba" sounds very gospel which is unusual for this sort of project, especially as the opening track, but it does work well in this case, on this track, Peruzzi is showering praises to God, showing gratitude on a general level, which thus makes a lot of sense, the lyrics and beats smoothly blended in.
"Matrimony" featuring Tiwa Savage is a core wedding song tailored for wedding or love celebrations which may well be one of the most sought songs on wedding playlist in the near future.
Boogie playlist is more party focused and uptempo with a diffusion of Afrobeats, Afrohouse, Dancehall, Amapiano and Highlife with stand out tracks such as "KalaKuta", "Baddest" featuring Don Jazzy & Phyno, "Available" featuring Wande Coal, "Southy Love" featuring Fireboy DML and "Isolova".
Overall this a very creative body of work, from Peruzzi and his team, the album is well composed, production is superb and on a general note, Peruzzi's songwriting skills is well showcased throughout the album. A flawless project indeed, from start to finish, quality is consistent, this is one of those albums that you don't get to skip a track, just press play & vibe.
Rum & Boogie features guest appearance artistes from the likes of Davido, Tiwa Savage, Don Jazzy, Phyno, Fireboy DML, BoyLexxy, Set Up, Patoranking and Wande Coal.
