Niniola - Colours and Sounds “Album”

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

Super talented, Nigerian singer and songwriter NINIOLA, dropped her sophomore album titled " Colours and Sounds" on October 2nd, I had been vibing to this album all weekend, you will definitely rollick, listening to "Colours and Sounds" if you love Afrobeats, RnB, Afropop and Afrohouse / Ampiano music.

In this amazing body of work, Niniola experiments with an eccentric blending of Afrobeats & Ampiano music with a fusion of RnB/AfroPop, the genres merged together to create an incredible listening experience for the listeners and I do feel this album is an epitome of what I would call a global sound.

My highlight on this LP, is the fact the Nigerian “Queen of Afro House” succeeded in bridging the gap between Afrobeats & Afro House / Ampiano music and hence bringing the two cultures together.

There’s an array of star collaborations on the project, which includes the undisputed King of Afrobeat, Femi Kuti alongside Timbaland, Busiswa from SA, Nonso Amadi, AfroB from The UK, Sauti Sol from Kenya and and Nigeria's renowned mega music producer, Sarz on the beat.

Tracks like “Bana”, “Omo Rapala”, “Boda Sodiq”, "Designer", and “Addicted” were previously released as singles before the album dropped and were all making massive waves across the globe.

The South Africa "Ampiano" music is currently emerging massively, and I like the way Niniola seamlessly samples her astounding vocals on the infamous Ampiano sounds especially on tracks like "Addicted", "Look Like Me" and "Oh Sharp".

Production on this project is totally on point with works by the likes of Sarz, Timbaland, Teflon Zincfence from Jamaica, Nonso Amadi, Shuffle Muzik SA and Kel-P.

"Colours & Sounds" is a cosmopolitan album with a universal sound!
