Johnny Drille - Before We Fall Asleep - Album Review

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

Johnny Drille - "Before We Fall Asleep" Album.

What an astonishing project from Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer, Johnny Drille, being the crooner first studio album released 3 September 2021, I am quite impressed with the futuristic approach taken by Drille and his team on this exceptional album, the sound is uniquely different, a blend of everything music really, rock and roll, pop, r&b, soul, funk, dancehall, afropop, afrobeats, afrobeat and hip hop.

Drille came through with this project, after some thorough listens, I believe this album is a world class material which would cater for a very wide audience globally, every song is a vibe, the track "Lies - To Whom It May Concern" is an highlight for me on this album, this is essentially a rock and roll song infused with elements of afropop/afrobeats with an uplifting lyrics thus encouraging artistry empowerment to envisage on political issues.

It appears that Drille is a very gifted persona and that's well unveiled on this project, he did not hold back on his creativeness and vision on this album, he fully exploited his imagination and brought it all out on "Before We Fall Asleep" LP which makes the whole album listening experience utmostly pleasant, soul reaching, enjoyable and such a breath of fresh air.

The album features collaborations from Don Jazzy, Ayra Starr, Styl-Plus, Ladipoe, Chylde, Lagos Community Gospel Choir, Kwittee and Cillsoul.
