Drake - Certified Lover Boy - Album Review

Updated: Sep 6, 2021

CLB - "Certified Lover Boy" the 6th studio album from Canadian rapper, DRAKE, the

follow up to the "Hotline Bling" crooner 2018's "Scorpion" album, "CLB" thus released on 3 September, 2021 after so much anticipation and heavy hyping.

The star studded 21-tracks "CLB" features guest appearances from recording artists like Jay Z, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Tems, Project Pat, Yebba, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Future, Young Thug and Ty Dolla $ign.

If you ask me, the production on this project is superb, Drake does balance up his singing and rapping skills on "CLB", considering the tons of collaborators on the project, different sounds/different vibes, but they all really work well though, there is overall cohesion throughout the album, it's quite amazing the way Drake blended in with each and everyone of the featured guests and switch things up seamlessly, for example in the track "Fountains" featuring Nigerian fast rising AfroPop singer Tems, the tune is not wholly an Afropop track, as may have been expected by the Afrobeats/Afropop music fans, but it's more of R&B/Afropop-inflected which gives a feel of contemporary R&B vibes for the listeners and the tune does sound great.

The creativeness of "CLB" is indeed unparalleled and distinctive, with it's 21 solid tracks is definitely a music album for your collection.
