DAVIDO - A Better Time - Compilation of hits.

DAVIDO - A BETTER TIME!

I guess we all jollified to Davido's 2019's "A Good Time" album, the Nigerian Afrobeats Superstar recently unleashed his latest project "A Better Time" on 13 November 2020 to be precise.

ABT is a star studded affair featuring guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Young Thug,Mayorkun, Bella Shmurda, Sauti Sol, Tiwa Savage, Mugeez, CKay, Hit-Boy and Hip Hop Veteran, Nasir Jones a.k.a Nas.

The LP does proclaim its title - A Better Time, this project is a colossal one, it's all about having a better time with lots of party tunes, there's something for everyone on this 17 track album, it's a extraordinary body of work, this is the kind of an album that you can just press play and the party is going on ! It’s an ultimate soundtrack for your party, all tracks on ABT are perfectly tailored for the everyday musical routine, be it cruising around town on a summer afternoon with your stereo on full blaring, having a lockdown party or perhaps in a social gathering of like minded social butterflies having a good-better time.

I perceive an evolution of the Afrobeats music, this is the new Afrobeats, the genre is evolving and Davido is evolving with it. OBO's delivery on this project is prototypical, albeit the Afrobeats genre is currently on a redefining mode, Davido still maintain his authentic style impressively on "A Better Time" whilst making tunes that could make waves across the globe and at the same time still appealing heavily to the core Afrobeats music fans on the streets of Lagos, with tracks like "FEM", "Jowo", "The Best", "Fade", "Lala"  and "Tanana"

On the track "Holy Ground" Nicki Minaj emphasised couple of times, "Naija To The World" - "Nigeria To The World" which signifies the importance of bringing Afrobeats music to the mainstream level, personally I believe music is universal, an artist should try and spread their music across the globe as further as possible, on this project  Davido is also trying to broaden his audience reach which vitally makes a lot of sense.

I adore the way OBO seamlessly blends his style, catchy hooks, sweet lyrics and swagga with Lil Baby in the trap infused with Afrobeats "So Crazy"

"Shopping Spree" featuring Chris Brown & Young Thug is an undeniably infectious tune that will showcase Davido's ability in a mainstream capacity and I won't be surprised if this track ends up on Billboard Top Hip Hop/RnB Charts.

With the tracks "Heaven" and "I Got A Friend" featuring Mayorkun & Madjozi, The FEM Crooner samples his upstanding vocals/hooks on Afro House / Ampiano beats and it works awesomely well and let's not also forget that the previously released single "FEM" is already a street anthem all over Lagos and other parts of the world.

"Birthday Cake" featuring Nas & Hit-Boy is a summerish tune which brings you back to the old school / 90-00s pure r&b grooves, to get Nas on a track is also legendary.

Overall, this album create a very enjoyable experience to the listeners, it's a compilation of hit singles and as we all know Davido to be an hitmaker, from Skelewu to Dami Duro, Gobe, Aye, Fall, Fia, If and more, I see a lot of growth in Davido as an artist, I had been following Davido's music since his 2012 debut album "Omo Baba Olowo"  and I just don't like this album, I love it.
